Dioramas
Self-portrait no. 5 is part of a series I started as a resident artist at through the Brush Creek Foundation of the Arts. The piece is embroidered with soy silk, bamboo, and cotton floss on antique homespun linen that is more than 100 years old. The porcelain doll arm is from Germany and was dug from the earth from the grounds of an old doll factory that operated between 1850-1910. I sculpted the masks from clay they were fired and left unglazed. It is framed in a reclaimed barnwood frame. It is backed in antique linen and rayon/wool blend felt. The piece measures 6 inches x 6 inches by 3 1/2 inches.
